Spring 2014 Trends

The runway has spoken. Spring 2014 trends are out & now it’s time to get a head start on your Spring shopping ladies! Let’s see what some of the most wearable trends are for this Spring season.

Crop Tops

Honestly, I was never very interested in crop tops until this year. I never really felt like I could pull it off but now I find them to be pretty cute on me. Crop tops have been around for a while and I’m sure a lot of people are like “Ugh, crop tops? Again?” but bare-midriffs are here to stay ladies.

Wide-Leg Trousers

Okay, I am ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED to try this trend! I know for a fact I’ll be able to pull this off. It’s at the top of my list for my Spring shopping spree. Wide-leg trousers + crop top+ bomber jacket = give me life. I can’t wait to get my hands on a few pairs of these!

Tea-Length Skirts

I’m not too thrilled about this trend but I MIGHT try it. I’m not much of a skirt person. If I do wear skirts, they’re either pencil or maxi skirts. I’m not a fan of skirts that flare on the bottom because I feel like they make me look old. However, don’t let my opinion DISCOURAGE YOU! If you like this trend, go for it.

Sheer

This is another trend that I’m a tad hesitant about but I’d definitely try this out before the tea-length skirts. I have a feeling I might be able to pull this off but I know that sheer isn’t for everyone. I’ve seen a few people try it but I’m just like “Girl, no.” Hopefully, I’ll like it on myself 🙂

Slouch

As oppose to body con, figure hugging outfits, the slouchy look is the relaxed and comfortable. It gives the casual vibe. I’m definitely trying this trend out. I’ll probably buy a few slouchy tops and some pajama-like pants.

Fringe

It’s the 20’s with a twist and I’m bold enough to give it a try. I’m obsessed with the fashion from the 20’s so I’m definitely going to go out and invest in some fringe fashion.

Metallic

Bring on the high shine with metallic and iridescent this season! I feel like this year the runway was bolder with their metallic fashion.  I’m actually growing fond of this trend. I’ll probably buy a metallic dress in the near future 🙂

Floral

This isn’t surprising. Florals are always going to be a trend in the Spring. However, designers have unique ways of portraying the trend in their clothes.  The picture above is Michael Kors and he’s one of my favorites when it comes to the floral trend. I think anyone can pull off floral with the right makeup and accessories.

Dare To Wear Hawaiian Print

Hawaiian prints were trending last season and according to Vogue, they’re coming back this season! I’ve never been a fan of intense tropical patterns. Like many people, I associated it with those cheesy tropical shirts that middle aged men wear on casual Fridays to their office jobs. However, now that I’m doing my research and looking into different ways to wear the Hawaiian print trend … I think I’m becoming a fan!

From my point of view, I think the Hawaiian print works best on a top of skirt. I can’t wear full blown Hawaiian print from head to toe. I’m definitely not that bold and the patterns would hurt my eyes and perhaps the eyes of others. BUT, if that’s your style then go for it girl! Work it, Work it, OWN IT!

I think that this trend is definitely NOT for everyone. Hence, the phrase “dare to wear”. Not everyone loves tropical, bold, colorful patterns. If you want to be brave and decide to rock this daring trend, go on Polyvore and check out different tropical/Hawaiian styles. You might be pleasantly surprised!

My Fave Looks: The White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Hello beautiful people! Let’s talk fashion!  I was on the Vogue website & got my inspiration to write a Best Dressed Post. Next Let week, I’ll be doing the Best Dressed at the 2013 Met Gala so keep your eyes posted! So let’s do this dolls!

Sofia Vergara in Herve L. Leroux

This dress looks absolutely gorgeous on Sofia Vergara. I’m in love with the color and I love how the top of the dress doesn’t make her breasts look huge, because let’s be real, she does have big boobs haha. Anyway this dress is gorgeous and perfect for her and she rocked it. It’s a simple yet very elegant dress and I love her clutch.

Katy Perry in Giambattista Valli Couture

This dress suited Katy Perry perfectly! She looks stunning. I was in awe when I saw her in this dress. It’s just absolutely beautiful and it brings out her figure. Who would’ve thought Katy Perry had a figure? Well know we know haha. The color is perfect for spring! And I must add that this dress definitely accentuates her boobs haha, but NOT in a distasteful way. Gotta stay classy for the White House.

Olivia Munn in Marchesa

What I love most about this look is the necklace.  The dress is plain but elegant and classic but that necklace just brings out the beauty of this dress. Olivia Munn looks so elegant and classy. If she just wore that dress without the necklace, it would be boring. So she made a good choice to wear this necklace and give the dress a little umpf!

Kate Walsh in Carolina Herrera

I always love, love, Carolina Herrera dresses, especially if the celeb knows how to work it! Kate Walsh killed it in this dress, legitimately killed it. She looks GORGEOUS! I can’t take how beautiful this dress is and how beautiful she looks in it! Like absolutely stunning. You can’t fail with Carolina Herrera.

Sophia Bush in Lela Rose

I think this dress was meant for Sophia Bush. The embellished bodice accentuates Sophia Bush’s frame. It’s a perfect dress for her and especially for a spring event. She looks beautiful. I love her earrings too!

Hayden Panettiere in Katherine Kidd

There have been a good amount of negative comments about this dress and like I’ve always said: fashion is very subjective. With that said, I LOVE this dress on Hayden Panettiere. This shade of yellow is BEAUTIFUL on her. She’s staying within the spring theme. I love the cut outs on the side and how the dress drapes from her waist. She is showing some skin without being trashy and she can pull it out perfectly.

Morena Baccarin in J.Mendel

Morena Baccarin knew she had to wear this dress. This strapless gown accentuates her shoulders and it perfect for her. I love her makeup too. I’m not a fan of the shoes but she still looks stunning in the dress. I love the way the dress hangs on her, just plain classy.

Fashion Faves: Tank/Cami Haul

So like every Friday, it’s time for fashion faves babies! This week, I went on a tank and cami haul! Why? Because basic shirts are ALWAYS a necessity! Plus Forever 21 was having a sale, so naturally I went wild !! This is going to be a rather short post because it’s only going to show you the different camis/tanks I bought & where to get them. So here we go…

Forever 21 Basic Scoop Neck Cami, $2.80

So in tribute to Spring, I kept true & decided to go with pastel colors! These are the colors I liked the most. If you’re not into bright colors they have dark and neutral colors as well. The color selection is pretty varied.

Forever 21 Basic Scoop Neck Tank, $5.80

These are my absolute favorites! I love these type of tank tops. I use them for everything, to sleep, to party, to club, to eat, EVERYWHERE! As long as you know how to dress & accessorize … the ways you can wear these tank tops are ENDLESS! I LOVE the color selection they had for these tops too. I wanted to buy every color but I was like “Okay Keana, pump your brakes, you don’t need 15 tank tops” … maybe I do haha. But anyway, these 3 are definitely my fave!

Note: Forever 21 is having a sale on tops starting at $3.99! So get to shopping girlfriends!
