Selena Honored by MAC Cosmetics

(via latina.com)

Hey darlings!

It is finally happening! This is real life not just another rumor on the rumor mill. MAC Cosmetics is answering the prayers of all Selena fans out there and will be releasing a collection in honor of her legacy. ❤

I honestly never thought this day would come. Earlier this year, I saw so many petitioning for a Selena MAC Collection via Instagram and Twitter but I never thought it would actually happen! MAC’s Senior VP states, “Selena’s talent and beauty, inside and out have, have left a colorful, meaningful impact in the world, that has continued to grow over the last two decades.” Selena’s sister, Suzette, even posted her feelings about the new collection stating, “Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day. If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made.”

It’s clear that Selena’s legacy is still going strong 20 years after her death. I’m definitely snagging all the makeup I can from that collection. Too bad I have to wait until next year though 😦 But, I know the lipstick shade they come out with will be BOMB. MAC can take all my money when this collection comes out because ANYTHING FOR SELENASSSSSSSS! ❤

20 Years Later: Remembering Selena

Hello loves. Today will be more of a somber day for this blog because today marks 20 years that one of my idols, Selena,  passed away. It definitely doesn’t feel like 20 years have passed! I feel like it was just yesterday when I was sitting in between my grandma’s legs watching the news unfold. It was on the news show Primer Impacto and my grandma was doing my hair.  I was only 2 but I remember that day vividly due to the fact that my grandma was hysterical. Selena’s music was constantly playing in my home. Naturally, I grew an attachment to her from watching and listening to her constantly. I was literally obsessed – anyone in my family will tell ya. I would perform her songs in my living room with a hairbrush as my microphone in front of numerous family members hahaha. After her death, she was literally everywhere! She impacted the Latin community so much so that her death was a huge heartache on another level. The movie, Selena, is even the 10th highest grossing biopic of all time! So here I am at 3 am dedicating this post to her, while listening to her last concert on Vimeo…

It’s been 20 years and I’m pretty sure I won’t be the only one remembering her today. Channel 6 (Univision on iO cable) has been talking about her all week. Even the daytime show, The Real, dedicated part of their segment to her yesterday. Selena’s sister, Suzette, appeared on the show and Adrienne Bailon performed “I Could Fall In Love” as a tribute. So, I know she’s definitely in a lot of people’s minds and hearts, especially today and especially in the Latin community.

I don’t want to focus much on her death in this post but if you want to get more info about her life or even just watch some videos or documentaries of her, check out YouTube or even watch the movie. There is tons of info about her legacy online, I also suggest you read the book dedicated to her by her husband, Chris Perez. I’ve discussed the book here.

R.I.P Selena

20 years later and you are truly missed…
